The Kawartha Durham Kart Club will have a presence at the season finale of the Nascar Canadian Tire Series at Kawartha Speedway. The Z-Line Design 250 presented by the Dodge dealers of Ontario and Coca-Cola on Saturday, September 26 will feature the best stock car drivers in Canada including Kawartha favorite Derek Lynch of Norwood.
Derek’s career began in 1981 in Go-Karts. After winning several Karting championships in Ontario and Quebec, Derek made the move to full bodied Stock Cars at the age of 14. At the age of 15 Derek captured the Late Model Sportsman Championship at Peterborough Speedway. The next several years saw Derek competing with great success in the American Canadian Tour, a New England based traveling Late Model series. Success with ACT led Derek to the NASCAR BUSCH Grand National North Series. Derek spent a year and a half in the NASCAR BGNN series and scored several top 10 finishes along with a runner-up finish in the Rookie of the Year standings.
Be sure to visit the members at the KDKC booth when you’re at the race. Check out what the club has to offer and ask as many questions as you like. You never know, you might be ready to climb into a kart seat yourself.
The Kawartha Durham Kart Club calls Kawartha Downs and Speedway their home. Located in Fraserville, Ontario (south west of Peterborough), this independent club - created, organized and run by volunteers, has always been focused on providing a fun, safe and family oriented yet highly competitive environment for go-kart hobbyists and budding race stars alike. Membership for 2010 is already growing and the club is ready for another exciting year on the high banks of Kawartha Speedway.

  Classifed Alert!!!
A couple of members have identified suspicious email responses to their classified ads. Be wary of anyone requesting your personal information or making unusual offers/conditions on your items for sale. Anyone unwilling to provide their contact info to you (phone number) so that you can talk personally or having their 'shipping agent' arranging pick-up should be treated with caution. Everyone can make their own choices, but fake money orders or bad checks can leave you empty handed with no way of tracking your stuff down. The karting community is a small place, most sales happen to others in southern Ontario. Ask your potential buyer where they race then check if they show up in that club's season points. Better to be a bit paranoid then ripped off.
If you have comments or experiences to share that may help others members stay safe on-line please send them to the webmaster.

August 25

Still lots of places that the club can use help on racedays. Think about putting in some time to help things run smooth.
Like messing with motors? Maybe you can assist in post-tech. Engine painting, scales, scoring, morning registration (not as early as past years), pre-tech, all positions can use extra help. This does not have to be every race, schedule a couple of dates ahead of time.
We can also use corner marshals, this is a paid position.
Contact Paul or Steve to put your name in.
